Texas Haven - Kathleen Ball

Can love shine through the clouds of treachery and misunderstanding?

Advertising for a wife seems like the answer to all of Burke Dawson's problems. He wants a wife and kids without emotional attachments, but he has no idea how much havoc one woman can cause.

Annie Douglas has her heart set on her hunky cowboy's love and she isn't about to stop until she gets it.

Take Me Home, Cowboy - Krista Ames

When tragedy strikes, will building tension and pride destroy a growing attraction or show them the way home?

Ally Kincaid returns to Rock Creek, Wyoming, to see her father after a two year absence. Anticipating a quiet family reunion, she finds herself butting heads with Matt Gentry—her father’s foreman—instead. The man’s arrogance and sexy drawl push all her buttons, making her wonder what he’s hiding beneath his cowboy swagger.

When tragedy strikes, will building tension and pride destroy their growing attraction or show them the way home?

Honeymoon Ranch - Cheryl Gorman

When wedding planner, Summer Conroy, discovers she has inherited half of Silver Creek Ranch, she is stunned to learn the other half is owned by sexy cowboy, Bryce Jericho. Her idea of turning the ranch into an exclusive wedding and honeymoon destination is met with a wall of resistance from Bryce who doesn’t want his ranch ruined with a bunch of wedding nonsense. He is determined to conceal his vulnerable heart that beats in fear of being betrayed again. Will this woman with dreams of happily-ever-after in her eyes transform his fear into love everlasting?

Until You Fall in Love - Lyssa Layne

Can a longtime friendship suddenly blossom into love?

Single mom Jordan Glastetter doesn't know how she'd survive without her best friend, Abram Tomko. He's the father her son never knew and he's the rock she's always leaned on.

When Abram's father suffers a heart attack, it's Abram's turn to depend on Jordan, finally seeing her as the woman she's become and not the little girl he grew up with.

Will they risk their friendship for a chance at love?

The Cowboy’s Baby - D’Ann Lindun

Cat wanted to keep her baby: Tanner insisted she give it up...can they find common ground seventeen years later?

Cat O’Brien left her heart in Granite, Colorado, seventeen years ago—her first love, Tanner Burke, and the baby girl she gave birth to at sixteen. Suddenly, both Tanner’s high school sweetheart and the teenage daughter they gave up for adoption are back in his life.

Cat is adamant their daughter keep her baby; Tanner isn’t as sure. Just like seventeen years before, he and Cat are butting heads over the fate of an unborn child.

Is a Romance Between a Teacher and a Parent Realistic?

The short answer is yes. It happens all too often. Here’s a post about a teacher and parent in a Catholic school in a realtionship. Often the school has to make a judgement about the relationship and if it’s a conflict of interest. The most interesting piece about the above mentioned post is the comments. I love how people become polarized about this issue.

A friend shared a story about a married parent who was having an affair with her child’s teacher. Now the parent isn’t able to come to the school without notice ahead of time and the teacher will be let go at the end of the year. While I don’t justify infidelity, why is it that a teacher is held to a higher standard? But then I’ve seen it happen first hand.

I married a former student’s father. I met Jason (name changed) when I was his son’s third grade teacher. We didn’t date until that summer and then our relationship took a long time to grow before we married. We were friends first and had a lot in common, both divorced, raising children, quiet and driven. While my relationship with Jason wasn’t a secret, it caused issues at work. Some of my co-workers cornered me and accused me of potentially ruining the school’s repuation. They felt I should break up with Jason. To be honest, their ambush brought Jason and I closer. But the relationship with my co-workers was forever changed.

Do I regret my marriage? No way…but my choice makes for an interesting plot point in my latest romance- Chalkboard Romance.

See how Lauren Walsh handles falling for a student’s father after a one night stand. Will she lose her job or will she give up on a chance for a happily ever after? Please let me know how you’d handle things if you were in the same situation.

EXCERPT:

Entering Mr. Stevens’s office felt like being called on the carpet by your parents. Lauren fidgeted with her bracelet on her wrist. I won’t cry…I won’t scream…I can be professional. The mantra repeated over and over in her head.

“Please have a seat. You’ve been a teacher here for six years. We’ve always valued your skills and feel you’re an asset to our school. Frankly, your students and their families love you. However, it’s come to my attention you’re dating a parent of one of your students.” Keith plucked a file from his desk and glanced at the page. “A Mr. Mac Thomas. His son is Todd Stone. Is this true?”

“Yes, it’s true. However, I’m not treating anyone any differently. I team teach with Melanie, as you know. She’s the one in charge of Todd’s grades. I don’t play favorites or treat any child better than another.” Meeting Keith’s gaze, Lauren wanted to make sure Keith understood her feelings.

“Well, who you’re dating does matter to at least one family. They came to my office the other day, complaining about your relationship.” Keith’s tone took on a serious note.

Lauren tried to keep the anger out of her voice. Taking a deep breath, she began. “Look, Keith. You, yourself, are dating a teacher, someone you have to grade. Do you give Melanie any more promotions or better pay than the rest of us? Our school allows parents to have their own children as students in their classrooms. How are they different than what I’m doing? Besides, this is a free country. No one can tell me who I can and can’t date.”

“You’re right on both accounts but I can’t jeopardize the school. I don’t want your reputation to suffer. I can’t help but sympathize with you, but before this goes to the board or someone requests we fire you, I want to try to fix things.” Compassion filled Keith’s expression.

“I understand, but you’re asking me to choose between love and a student who needs me.” Tears filled Lauren’s eyes.

“I’m asking you to help Todd as a friend and caring adult…whatever happens between you and Mr. Thomas. I won’t ask you to give up your relationship. Ultimately, this decision has to come from you. I’m going to give you the day off since we already have Mrs. Johnson in subbing. This way you can talk things over with Mr. Thomas. But you must let me know your decision tomorrow. At that point, if you haven’t decided, I will make the choice.”

“So basically you’re telling me to allow you to move Todd or you will move Todd. You’re not giving me much of a choice.” As tears began to fall down Lauren’s cheeks, she used her hand and brushed them away. Keith handed her a tissue.

“I know this isn’t much of a choice. But if you love Mr. Thomas and want to keep your job here, it’s the only choice you have.” Keith’s expression appeared grim. “I’ll see you in the morning with your decision.”
