Detective Angela Martin returns to action in SURRENDER, Book 3 of the Lethal Obsession Trilogy.
Having lost the man she was falling for in the original Lethal Obsession, and having her new love snatched from her arms by human traffickers who wouldn't think twice about killing to keep their national ring in operation, Detective Martin is determined to do anything necessary to save him.
That leads to her doing the unthinkable, making a deal with the kidnappers to save her Anthony, that eventually leads to being on the run from the very law enforcement officers she's worked with her entire career.
Her only refuge is to go deep into the world of BDSM, turning herself over to a submissive training academy and risking being sold into slavery. Ultimately, she finds her own life may be on the line, but not before she learns firsthand what true sexual servitude and bondage is.
SURRENDER, like LETHAL OBSESSION and HELPLESS, is an erotic suspense tale that will keep you riveted to your e-reader until the last word.
You can purchase SURRENDER for your Kindle here. If you haven't started the series, pick up LETHAL OBSESSION – it's on sale until March 18 for just 99 cents.
Now, let's chat with the lovely author:
1. Has writing been something you always
did, or was it a discovered talent that came to you at a later point?
It's always
been part of me, I think. I didn't come from the best childhood – long story I
won't tell now, but I had a grandmother that watched out for me as much as she
could when I was very little, and she used to read to me every night. I loved
those stories, and when she wasn't around and life was difficult, I'd go to my
room, crawl under the covers and recall those stories, changing them in my head
to go whatever direction I wanted. I guess by the time I was 12 I was writing
my own stories.
2. Do you remember how it felt when you
were offered that first contract? What emotions stand out in your memory?
Well, as a novelist I'm an indie writer,
doing my own thing, but I've had a few short stories published in magazines and
anthologies. The first time I received one – that was a thrill. I felt I was a
real writer, a profession (even though I was only paid $15 for that first
story). It was a turning point of sorts for me, when I realized people will pay
to read what I write.
3. Is this a first book, part of a series,
or the latest in a long line of many?
SURRENDER
is the final part of the Lethal Obsession Trilogy, following Detective Angela
Martin as she delves into the world of BDSM while tracking a killer who is also
part of that world.
4. Do you have your next book underway, or
other titles in the planning stages?
Yes, I'm starting a new series that's best
described as suspense-romance, with a healthy dose of the paranormal and a
little smidgen of erotica. That novel, with a working title of The Return, will
be out at the end of May. I have another novel that picks up with a few select
characters from The Lethal Obsession Trilogy called Taken, which will be out in
late summer, probably August.
5. Do you have a favourite genre and why?
Is it one you write in, read in, or both?
As a genre, I tend to gravitate
toward horror, though I've written little in that field. I've written more in a
hybrid field, combing mystery, suspense and erotica. As for reading, I have
fallen in love with the late Robert B. Parker. While I'm not fan of the
hard-boiled mystery genre, I absolutely adore his work.
6. What, to you, is the most exciting part
of the writing process? Does it change from book to book or remain the same?
Sitting down at the computer and writing, working through plot lines and
figuring out what to do next with a story, or more accurately seeing where the
characters are going to take me on the story. The act of creation.
7. If you could co-author a book with
anyone, who would you choose and why? What kind of book do you think would come
from the collaboration?
Oh my gosh, that's a tough one. I already mentioned my
affection for the work of Robert B. Parker, but even if he were still alive, I
don't think it would be him. I get the idea he was a no-nonsense guy. Just sit
down, write the story, then move on. I tend to jump back and forth on things to
much to work with someone like that.
Hmmm...still thinking. Gosh, honestly, I think it would be with one of
my writer friends, Molly Synthia (if you haven't heard of her work, check out
her blog at http://www.mollysynthia.com/
) She's an incredible writer, and I think it would be fun as heck to co-author
a book with her. What sort of book? I don't know. I think it would be insanely
hot, from an erotic point of view. I also think it would be written far better
than anything I've done on my own – she's a great writer.
8. Where can readers find you on the web?
A
few places. First is my Blog, and then Facebook, and on Twitter.
I'm also on Goodreads some, but I don't spend a lot of time there.
About the author:
Shandra Miller is Midwest-born gal who left
home at 16 and never looked back. She spent three years traveling the South as
a carnie, another three with a circus -- yes, an honest-to-god circus with
elephants (well, an elephant), other wild animals, high-wire walkers, clowns
and big top tents.
She's never owned a cell phone, only
recently got cable television, and hasn't fully figured out Blogger, Facebook,
and other social media. She says she still hasn't found her real-life bearings
either, but for now she works as a waitress at two restaurants in Southwest
Virginia working as hard as she can to become a full time writer.
At night she watches the stars, takes walks
and she's always looking for time to write
stories of mystery, desire, suspense and eroticism.
